Imagine a getaway where you can learn the hands-on skills of our Native forefathers while learning about their culture and gaining a deeper understanding of the Aboriginal people.

In this package, you get to choose 5 traditional Native living skills from our list that you wish to learn about. Our educated guides can teach you Aboriginal techniques such as signal making and traditional navigation...just to name a few!

You will return home with not only a variety of fascinating abilities, but also with the mental refreshment that only such an outdoor experience can produce!

Summary: Tour does not include hotel pick-up. After checking in for your tour in Canmore, you may have to drive up to 30 minutes to reach your tour departure location. Children ages 4 and under are free. Rates are per person in US dollars and include tax. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 888-307-6197. There is a $5.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order.
There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown includes any and all taxes, fuel surcharges, and service fees. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy: All sales are final. There are no refunds.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Aboriginal Skills & Crafts Package Information:

With this package, you can choose any 5 activities from the "Traditional Native Living Skills" list below. Please specify which 5 activities you want to learn about on your order form.

Please keep in mind that our full day custom packages are truly a full day. We develop our programs for those who desire a quality lesson, and therefore you should be prepared to spend at least six hours with your instructor. All 5 activities will be conducted during this six hour period.

Included in your full day program is a snack and drink. Lunch is available for purchase upon request.

These activities are held outdoors, so please make sure that you dress appropriately for the weather.

Traditional Native Living Skills (choose 5):

~ Fire Lighting - You will learn both traditional and modern methods of fire lighting for different fire types. We will also cover the best way to build a fire to keep you warm.

~ Shelter Making - Learning how to make a proper shelter can be life-saving! We teach you shelter construction techniques using trees and tarps. In the winter months, we also use a variety of snow shelters.

~ Medicine Making - The plants in this area are plentiful and each one is unique in its ability to provide us with food and medicine. Come share some of the secrets that your guide learned from a Native Medicine Woman!

~ Signal Making - Learn how to attract attention when you really need it! We will show you the techniques you need to make yourself seen in a dense forest. Bring a notebook...we have a lot of information to share!

~ Rope Making - Have you ever needed a string or rope but didn't have either? We'll show you how to make both of them! Then, you will learn the many uses of your newly made tools.

~ Traditional Navigation - What if you were stuck in the wilderness with no compass or GPS? In this program, you will learn how our forefathers used to navigate using a sun compass, sun stick, and other useful tools.

All participants must sign a liability waiver. Parents or guardians are required to sign for guests ages 17 and under.
